OUR MISSION

A Living Monument to African-American Heritage

The Mission of The Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center & State Museum is to honor and interpret African American history in Missouri, especially in the Greater Kansas City Area.

We use educational exhibits and programs to delve into the past, present, and contemporary contributions of African Americans who have shaped our city and state's history and culture.

The stories we tell, the exhibits we curate, and the experiences we offer, all converge to empower, educate, and enrich the lives of all who engage with our center/museum.
