Akilah Cherry is a Program Director with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City. She is a youth advocate, a community activist, and a proud mother.
Akilah has been a vital part of Kansas City’s contemporary poetry scene since the late 90's having worked with some of the city’s most influential poetry crews including Verbal Attack, The Black Poets Collective, and Urban Literation (ULIT!). Her poetry explores themes of Black consciousness, social justice, Afro feminism, spirituality, and love.
